  • Apostille from your state’s Secretary of State
  • Certified Italian translation of the birth certificate
  • Both parents’ passports (copies)
  • Parents’ marriage certificate (if applicable)
  • Proof of AIRE registration of the Italian parent

Timeframes

The consulate receives the file and forwards it to the Italian municipality for transcription. Typical timeframe: 2-6 months for transcription in Italy. The apostille takes 1-4 weeks depending on the state.
